We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded Alternatives Investment Provider of the Year by Financial News, ahead of Blackstone. The period under review for the awards was the 12 months to the end of March 2020, a challenging time for everyone in the industry. However, the winners still impressed and where firms struggled in the first quarter of this year, longer-term performance and the strength of the business were key factors.

The 2020 judging panel:

  • Rachel Elwell, CEO, Border to Coast Pensions Partnership
  • Jake Moeller, senior investment consultant, Square Mile Research
  • Luba Nikulina, global head of research, Willis Towers Watson
  • Bev Shah, founder and CEO, City Hive
  • Magnus Spence, managing director, Broadridge Financial Solutions
  • Shruti Tripathi Chopra, editor, Financial News
  • David Ricketts, asset management correspondent, Financial News

Methodology

Financial News conducted extensive research, including: analysing performance data, scrutinising submissions (where received) and taking soundings from the industry before coming up with a shortlist of nominees in each category. The judges then met via video call in September to discuss the shortlists before voting anonymously in each category. The winner is the firm or individual with the highest score. Where scores are tied the winner is the nominee with the greatest number of 5s (the highest score) and so on. Votes were screened for any conflicts of interest.
