ICG strengthens its responsible investment capability

Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) is further strengthening its responsible investment capabilities, with the appointment of Eimear Palmer as Responsible Investing Officer.

In this newly-created role, Eimear will be responsible for further integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors across all ICG’s fund strategies. She will work closely with ICG’s business and investment teams as well as portfolio companies to add value to fund investors. ICG has been a signatory to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) since 2013 and firmly believes that companies which are successful in managing ESG risks while capturing ESG opportunities will outperform over the longer term.

Eimear joined ICG in November 2018 from The Carlyle Group, where she spent seven years and undertook a similar role in Europe implementing an enhanced ESG framework for Carlyle Europe Partners. Prior to that, she spent seven years at KPMG where she was a manager in the Private Equity Audit and Assurance division.

Rosine Vitman, Managing Director, Head of European Portfolio Monitoring at ICG, said:

Identifying and assessing ESG issues is a core component of our investment process. By ensuring these issues are well-understood and managed over the lifetime of our investments, we can minimise downside risks and maximise opportunities, creating value for our clients. Eimear’s expertise in working with companies on ESG matters will add significant strength to our capabilities in this important area and we are delighted to welcome her to ICG.

Eimear Palmer said:

ICG is a rapidly growing alternative asset manager with a tremendous reputation for deploying flexible investment solutions over the long term. I am delighted to be joining a firm of this calibre and look forward to utilising my ESG knowledge and skills to support ICG as we engage with portfolio companies and add value to our investment process.
