ICG announces changes to Asia Pacific leadership
Ryan Shelswell appointed new Head of Asia Pacific
Replaces Dr. Chris Heine who retires in July
5 April 2018
London, Sydney, Hong Kong – Intermediate Capital Group (ICG), the specialist asset manager, announces that Ryan Shelswell will become Head of the Asia Pacific region, effective 30 July, replacing Dr. Chris Heine who has decided to retire from the Company to pursue other interests. Mr Shelswell, currently Head of Australia and New Zealand, Equity and Mezzanine, is the natural successor to Dr. Heine and will report to ICG’s Chief Investment Officer and Chief Executive Officer, Benoit Durteste.
Ryan Shelswell joined ICG in 2010, and is responsible for overseeing ICG’s investments in Australia and New Zealand, having been a member of the pan Asia Pacific Investment Committee since 2014. He has also established ICG’s sponsorless deal capability across Asia Pacific. Under his leadership, ICG’s Australia and New Zealand team has completed seven deals for over US$700m capital deployed, representing 69% of all the capital deployed in the region.
Benoit Durteste said: “Our flexible capital solutions are proving themselves in the Asian market against more traditional debt and equity products and I’m excited to build on our Asia Pac success with Ryan, who has a strong track record in sourcing and executing deals and who has worked to expand our coverage from sponsor mezzanine into the full set of ICG’s strategies. We expect Asia will continue to deliver strong GDP growth over the next five to ten years and we want ICG to take an active role in financing that growth – whether those opportunities arise from corporate divestments in Japan and Korea, growth capital to family businesses in South East Asia, or succession planning in Australia and New Zealand.
Dr Heine has served ICG with distinction since 2006 and has been pivotal in expanding our Asia funds business, including the establishment of a Singapore office and the creation of a joint venture with Nomura in Japan. I am extremely grateful for his leadership and we wish him well in the future.”
